Frequently Asked Questions

How long is a beginners lesson ?

A beginners lesson with the “success guarantee” lasts until you are successful with your starts, posture, and directional control. All other lessons are timed based so you get to chose how much fun you can handle.

What do I need to bring ?

You only need to bring what you would normally wear swimming or at the beach. Boardies, bikinis, one piece, Tshirts, are all OK as Vests and Wet Pants are provided. A towel, hat, and some water are also suggested.

Can I bring a friend to watch ?

Absolutely and this is encouraged. Your friend can take photos and offer moral support, or even learn with you.

Is it safe ?

All sports carry inherent risks and water sports are no exception. By wearing and using the right gear, getting expert coaching, and having a great boat driver, these risks are minimised.

Do you do weekends away ?

We can certainly design a weekend of fun on the water for you at nearby dams or lakes.

We are also planning to provide weekend activities that would include both water sports and a winery visit or two. This would be perfect for groups from 4 to 10 people as our vehicle will carry up to 10 passengers.

Why is the Big Banana red ?

That is what happens when you are not SunSmart. Slip, slop, slap !

How fast do you go ?

Little kids on skis, wakeboard and kneeboards can be going as slow as 10 kph, where as a 100kg adult barefoot skier may be doing 70 kph. Beginners on skis and wakeboards start at very slow speeds and gradually increase speed up to 30—35kph depending on weight, ability, and equipment. Fun and excitement comes from an increase in ability, agility, and performance, not from the boat going fast.

How does the learners bar work ?

The learners bar is a strong alloy bar fixed to the boat. It is used as a teaching aid which allows the coach to easily talk to you while you are moving. The bar provides additional stability for learning and where kids are involved, reduces the stress of being alone on the water. The bar also provides awesome photo opportunities.

What if I don't want coaching ?

Many people just want to get out and ride behind a great boat and driver and have heaps of fun. Coaching is just a part of what's on offer at BWSS. If you don’t require any coaching, then just book some time on the water without the coaching. Decide to ski, or ride, go sightseeing, or get a group together for some fun on the Big Banana and Tubes. So many choices, why not try them all. Get some friends together and get out on the water.
